Since CFPL (formerly CFEO) founded in 2004, we have worked to encourage hundreds of churches in the UK across different denominations and traditions to support prison leavers through training and resources. Now, through the Bridge Programme, we hope we will be offer more support to churches than ever before, that the Bridge Programme will help churches to be the most welcoming communities they can be, that they can be a place of great support and encouragement for prison leavers seeking to grow in their Christian faith and break cycles of re-offending.
If you would like to explore the possibility of running the Bridge Programme in your church, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Resources and Materials for Churches
All our resources and materials are free and accessible for churches. Bridge Programme resource packs will be made available from 2023. Churches will also have access to regular support and contact from the CFPL team.
Below are links to the forms for the Bridge Programme:
Application form - this must be completed and signed by the individual in order to progress their application and obtain permission to request information from their Chaplain and Resettlement or Probation Officers.
Chaplain's Assessment - this provides valuable insight into the character of the individual and the type of support that may be required.
Risk Assessment - this must be completed by Probation Officer or Offender Supervisor/Manager to provide important risk assessment and the type of support that will be required.
Training for Churches
We will be confirming Bridge Programme training dates for churches. Our previous CFEO training videos and CFEO handbook for churches are accessible below.
The resources relating to the care of ex-offenders made available on this website are intended to outline the approach taken by Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) in our work with and care for ex-offenders. HTB does not make any representations that this is the best or only approach to take and each individual or church who views these materials must make their own determination and use them at their own risk. We advise you always to consider your own context, carry out your own risk assessment of your activity in this area and ensure that your activity complies with all relevant legislation.
